Environmental Sustainability

Welcome to Campus Service's Environmental Sustainability web pages.

The University recognises the key role it has to play in caring for the environment and realises that environmental risks should be fully managed, minimised or removed by complying with environmental legislation and raising awareness of environmental sustainability to all connected to the University.

Campus Services are responsible for many areas which manage environmental risks including:

  • Carbon Management
  • Energy and water consumption
  • Waste and recycling
  • Sustainable travel
  • Biodiversity

The pages contained in the Environmental Sustainability web pages are designed to inform and educate staff, students and visitors in how the University should manage its care of the environment, recognising the need to ensure we manage that care in as sustainable manner as possible.

Definitions

The Environment – the conditions that surround us, which can influence and affect all living forms

Sustainability – the ability to meet the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations

Managing environmental sustainability when planning, constructing, operating and maintaining the University estate will support our environment as well as strategically supporting the University’s corporate approach to the growing importance of global sustainability.

We hope you find this section of our website helpful and informative, should you have any questions or enquiries please contact the University’s Environmental Manager.
