Noise at Work
Noise induced hearing loss is irreversible but 100% preventable.
Noisy workplaces are still too often seen as necessary. As the effects are not immediate, it is not considered a priority. The truth is that noise can have a devastating impact on our health.
An estimated 170,000 people in the UK suffer hearing damage as a result of exposure to excessive noise at work.1 in 5 workers raise their voices to be heard at least half the time at work and 7% suffer from work-related hearing difficulties. Noiseinduced hearing loss is the most commonly reported occupational disease in the EU.
While noise is most obviously a problem in industries such as manufacturing and construction, it can also be an issue in a wide range of other working environments, such as call centres, schools and bars.
