Maintenance of Buildings, Services, Plant and Equipment

Maintenance of Building Fabric and Central Service Installations
  • All employees have a responsibility to bring to the notice of the appropriate local manager any need for maintenance of building fabric or services within their specific area of responsibility
  • Requests for maintenance should be made to Campus Services Help Desk on ext 4070 or via e mail ea.helpdesk@northumbria.ac.uk.  Campus Services will be responsible for confirmation of receipt of the request and also completion of the maintenance work
  • Urgent requests for maintenance work may be made by telephone to Campus Services Help Desk but must be followed by a written request as outlined in .2 above
  • Departments and Schools are reminded that they must seek the approval of the Director of Campus Services or his nominated Deputy for all new building works and all building works that alter the fabric of a building or its services and any intrusive works to the fabric of the building. This will ensure that the Department is satisfied that the works will be designed and carried out by competent persons to the standards set by the appropriate regulations and codes of practice.
Maintenance of Plant and Equipment

It is the responsibility of Technical Support Services to arrange adequate procedures for the inspection and maintenance of plant and equipment in each zone, including statutory inspections of lifting gear and pressure systems.
