Welcome to Estates Environmental Management

The Estates Department is responsible for managing, administrating and promoting all aspects of environmental management, including energy, water and waste management, sustainable travel, and recycling.

The pages contained in our Environmental Management website give practical advice on managing waste at School, Department/Service and Institute level which will ensure the University fully complies with environmental legislation. There is also advice and information on recycling and sustainable commuting to and from Northumbria University.

Please note the deliberate dumping of rubbish, 'fly-tipping' is both illegal and irresponsible and all staff should ensure any requests for items to be disposed outside the normal waste streams should be done via the Estates Helpdesk on extension 4070.
