Planning

Our main functions are:

• to run the corporate planning process whereby School and Services' objectives are agreed and the annual Corporate Planning and Monitoring Statements and periodic updates of the University Plan are published;
• to monitor business performance against external benchmarks (eg HESA Performance Indicators, NSS) and also delivery of the University strategic objectives through the reporting of Key Performance Indicators;
• to make recommendations about the overall development of the University's Academic Programme in line with University Strategies and the position of the University against its benchmarks;
• to undertake analysis and special projects with a strategic focus, supporting and co-ordinating University responses to external initiatives;
• to compile and/or oversee the compilation of non financial data returns and reports to HESA and HEFCE and other bodies with a particular reference to compliance with relevant guidance and impacts these returns have upon funding and the University's reputation via league tables and other benchmarking mechanisms;
• to lead on the University relationship with HEFCE and HESA ensuring accurate, consistent guidance is communicated to relevant parties and responding to ad hoc requests for advice;
• to support the co-ordination of research management information to support internal research planning activities and in response to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) requirements;
• to provide ad hoc statistical analysis and performance management reports to assist with specific projects such as reviewing HEFCE price banding, JACS coding and Academic Cost Centres.
