Long Service and Retirement Recognition
Introduction
Northumbria University recognises the commitment and contribution of staff
who achieve long service with the University and also on retirement.
Eligibility
This policy applies to all members of staff regardless of role, grade or
working hours per week.
If a former employee rejoins the University after a break in service, their service will be recognised if in total it amounts to 20, 30 or 40 years.
Long Service
A member of staff who attains 20 years of service with the University will
receive:
- A letter of congratulations from the Vice-Chancellor and a gift card to the value of £200.
- An invitation to the annual Long Service Award Lunch, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor.
A member of staff who attains 30 years of service with the University will receive:
- A letter of congratulations from the Vice-Chancellor.
- An invitation to the annual Long Service Award Lunch, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor.
A member of staff who attains 40 years of service with the University will receive:
- A letter of congratulations from the Vice-Chancellor.
- An invitation to the annual Long Service Award Lunch, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor.
Retirement
A member of staff, who has at least 5 years of service with the University
at the time they retire, shall receive a letter of congratulations and a
gift card to the value of £100.
