Childcare - Northumbria Nursery

The aim of the Childcare Service is to provide a resource for staff with young children enabling them to achieve goals in employment and to continually develop high quality services to meet children’s and their parents’ needs. 

In the nursery we aim to provide a caring, child-centred learning environment, organised with due regard to health and safety and sensitive to the individual needs of young children in which every child and adult feels secure, valued and confident.

We are an Ofsted 'Outstanding' provider.

We aim to value parents as active partners in the continuing process of care and education of children and to this end to provide opportunities for parents and carers to exchange information and share expertise. In addition, we aim to make full use of the resources available within the University of Northumbria and the locality to provide an approach to learning which emphasises first hand experiences with play and talk as powerful media of learning.
