Project Proposal
Introduction
In keeping with the University's move towards more strategic, decision-based operations, a process for progressing new initiatives in IT from conception through to implementation has been developed. The start of this process is the Project Proposal, which initiates evaluation of any development proposals which are likely to require significant investment in resources, i.e. over £25,000 including staff costs. The Project Proposal should not be seen as an obstacle to new developments but rather an opportunity to consider the benefits, costs and risks from the outset.
Getting Help
Assistance with technical details for the Project Proposal e.g. hardware & software costs, staff resource estimates, may be provided by IT Services.
Process for getting a development proposal approved
- Proposer completes a Project Proposal Form
- Proposer submits the Project Proposal to the Assistant Director, IT Services.
- Discussion of the proposal for technical and support issues and approval at the IT Group.
- Discussion reported back to proposer by IT Services
- If approved, a project start up will take place to investigate the detailed requirements and implications of the proposal.
- A full project initiation report will go to the IT Group for approval to implement.
