Law Practice Collection

The Law Practice Collection at CCE contains the principle collection of legal 'practitioners' texts, a full collection of the Law Reports, a large number of IT workstations and a dedicated learner support enquiry desk.

The collection is reference only, though provision is made for Law students to borrow some items overnight, under certain restrictions. Please consult Library staff for further details.

Using the Law Practice Collection
A valid Northumbria University smartcard must be held in order to use the Law Practice Collection and should be carried for identification. Visitors to the Library should report to the CCE Reception to advise they would like to use the LPC. Visitors will need to provide proof of identity (including current address confirmation and photo ID).

The use of mobile phones is not permitted, except for silent text messaging.  Phones must be switched off or switched to silent before entering the Library.

Drinks in screw top bottles are allowed but food is not permitted.

Law Library

Photocopying
Photocopying facilities are available within the Library. Charges for black & white copies: 5p for A4 and 10p for A3. Copyright information is displayed next to the photocopiers.  You will need a University Smartcard to use the photocopiers. Visitors should ask at the enquiry desk if they wish to photocopy material. Smartcards must be activated before they can be used for photocopying. Facilities for activating and recharging Smartcards are located on the Ground Floor of CCE near the entrance.

Computers
There are ninety workstations and two printers available for staff and student use. These provide access to Northumbria University's electronic resources, Microsoft Office, the internet and email. A valid Northumbria University computer ID and password are required.

Finding the material you need
Material held in the Law Practice Collection is listed on the Library Catalogue which can be accessed via the Library webpages. The catalogue can be used to check which books, journals etc. are held in the Law Practice Collection, as well as stock held in all other Northumbria University Libraries.End of shelf guiding and floor plans are available to help you to locate material. Please ask Library staff for assistance if you are unable to locate the material you require.

Learner Support  staff are available throughout opening times to assist all  users.
