The Language Zone
The Language Zone on Floor 1 of City Campus Library is a 24x7 open access study environment with a mixture of digital and analogue work stations. Assistance with equipment and resources is available from the Floor 1 Enquiry Desk during Library staffed opening.
The Language Zone contains:

Networked PCs that give access to digital resources and online language exercises via Citrix as well as DVD and audio playback |
|
Live foreign language TV at all workstations |
|
TV/VCR combi units and audio tape decks |
|
Group viewing area with TV, VCR and DVD facilities |
|
Language course and reference books (many with accompanying
audio/video) |
|
English and foreign language video and DVD collection |
The resources reflect the programme of full and part-time courses offered
by the Division of Modern Foreign Languages and the English Language
Centre.
Access to the zone is free to all Northumbria University students and all University staff, access to the Library is via University smartcard.
Members of the public are able make use of the Language Zone resources as visitors to the Library or as external members.
Application to join should be made via Customer Support at Northumbria’s City Campus Library. There is a fee for Library membership and current membership costs can be found on our Library and Learning Services webpage.
Sixth form students studying languages at local schools and colleges are
encouraged to use the Language Zone facilities. Group visits can be
arranged by school tutors. Please contact us for further information.
