Passwords to e-resources
Access to Northumbria's electronic resources has changed.
- Athens usernames and passwords are no longer in use at Northumbria.
- Students and staff of the university may now use their Northumbria University usernames and passwords to access electronic resources.
- A temporary page with quick links to individual resources can be found HERE
- The library catalogue and NORA also contain the correct links to our resources.
- The login box to use for your Northumbria Username and Password may be described differently dependent upon the e-resource supplier. Look out for 'UK Federation', 'UK Access Management Federation', 'Academic login', 'Shibboleth', 'Institutional Login' or 'Log in at your home organisation'.
- PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO USE AN ATHENS LOGIN BOX - IT WILL NOT WORK
- You may see a WAYF (Where Are You From ?) – a drop down list from which you should choose Northumbria University.
-
No Password Required
If you are on campus you may not need a password if the electronic resource recognises the IP address of your computer. A few resources are ONLY available in this way. Please remember that these resources are only accessible off campus via Desktop Anywhere. A list of these resources is available. -
Non-University Passwords
There will be no change to resources which require non-university passwords. You will still be required to consult our list to locate these individual usernames and passwords. - The non-university password list is available from the left hand link (login with your university username/password to see this.)
-
We provide access to over 300 databases and 50,000 full
text e-journals, which staff employed by Northumbria University in
Newcastle and enrolled students are entitled to use. For information about electronic journal collections see the
e-Journals link on this page. Lists of databases are available within
NORA.
Additional registration may be required for EDINA Digimap and Crossfire Gmelin and Beilstein (shortly to be replaced by Reaxys).
The Athens system has now been disabled at
Northumbria.
