Problems Logging In
If you have been redirected to this
page after attempting to login to NORA, you may have entered your
university username and password incorrectly. OR
If you have attempted to access NORA via a bookmark/favourite you
will need to enter your username and password.
Follow the links on this page to Login to
NORA.

Only staff and students of the University of Northumbria may
use NORA.

Entering this system assumes that you agree to comply with university
library and computing regulations.

refused, please check that you have entered your details

Login to NORA
To login to the NORA service please use the image link on the right of the page, or the text link below.
- You will be prompted to enter your university computer username and password

You will then be redirected to the NORA Quick Search screen
- Login to NORA
Solutions to Common Problems
Below are fixes to some problems users have encountered accessing NORA.
If after attempting the fixes below you still cannot access NORA, please use the Desktop ANYWHERE service to connect. Using the browser from within Desktop ANYWHERE will ignore your local settings. Link to right of page.

Clear cookies and temp files
You will need to clear cookies and temp files (before you attempt to login):
For instance in Internet Explorer
- Click Tools then select Internet Options
- Click delete Cookies
- Click delete Temp Files and ensure you tick the include offline option
- then Click Settings - and ensure the top option is clicked.
Add NORA to your Trusted Sites
For instance in Internet Explorer
- On the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- Click the Security tab, then click the Trusted sites icon.
- Click the Sites button.
- click to remove the check in the Require server verification box.
- In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type in: http://nora.unn.ac.uk
- Click the Add button.
- In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type in: http://search3.webfeat.org
- Click the Add button.
- Click OK twice.
Advice for Users of Norton Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewall
1 Start Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
2 Do one of the following:
- In 2004 or later versions of Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall, double-click Privacy Control, and then click Advanced.
- In Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall 2003, click Options > Internet Security, and then click the Web Content tab.
3 At the bottom of the Advanced window, click Add Site.
4 In the New Site/Domain box, type the name of the NORA Servers (http://search3.webfeat.org and http://wfsearch.webfeat.org), and click OK. The site name appears in the left frame of the Options window.
5 Click the name of the new site.
6 On the Global Settings tab, under the Information about visited sites section, uncheck Use default settings.
7 Click Permit.
8 Click OK to close the Options window.
Reset your Internet Browser Security to Default Levels
For instance in Internet Explorer
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- Click the Security tab.
- Select Internet in Select a Web content zone to specify its security settings.
- Click on the button labelled Default Level to reset the security level. This is near the bottom of the dialog box.
- Select Local Intranet in Select a Web content zone to specify its security settings area. Set this to Default settings. Do the same for Trusted Sites and Restricted Sites.
- Close the Internet Options dialog box by clicking on the OK button.
- Close all open windows of Internet Explorer.
- Reopen the Internet Explorer application and attempt to login to NORA.
Other Settings
Information for Simply Web Users
If you are connected to the internet using the Simply Web wireless network on campus, you may experience problems connecting to NORA.
To resolve these issues, once connected to the Simply Web network connect
to NORA via Desktop Anywhere.
