Using other libraries

In addition to having access to the facilities of Northumbria University Libraries, students and staff can take advantage of Northumbria’s membership of the SCONUL Access Scheme. This scheme allows access to the libraries of other participating institutions.

SCONUL Access Scheme (SAS)
This scheme replaced the UK Libraries Plus and SCONUL Research Extra schemes on August 1st 2007. Current holders of UK Lib+ membership cards and SRX membership cards may continue to use them until their expiry date. SCONUL Access is a co-operative venture between most of the higher education libraries of the UK and Ireland. It enables staff, research students, full time postgraduates and part time, distance learning and placement students to borrow material from other libraries.
