SCONUL Access Scheme
During the Easter/Bank Holiday vacation periods visits under the SCONUL Access Scheme will not be available as follows:
8.00pm Thursday 5th April to 9.00am Tuesday 10th April 2012, Monday 7th May access to Northumbria staff and students only.
Monday 4th June and Tuesday 5th June Northumbria's libraries will be closed.
Northumbria University Library is a member of this scheme, which is a co-operative venture between higher education libraries across the country. The scheme has three bands which cover staff and research students (Band A), part time, distance learning and placement students (Band B), full time taught postgraduate students (Band C)
A SCONUL Access membership card may be obtained from any Library enquiry desk. Alternatively, you may use the electronic version of the application form. A Northumbria University smartcard is also required to use this scheme.
If you choose to use the electronic form you can post it to Customer Support, Library Building, Northumbria University, Sandyford Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8ST.
Full time undergraduate students can apply for an SAS card which will give them reference only access to participating libraries.
Please note that at peak times access to other institutions may be restricted. Please check web pages of other member institutions before visiting.
For further information, contact the Customer Support Desk at City Campus or Coach Lane Libraries, or email ask4help@northumbria.ac.uk
Non Northumbria University students
Students from other member institutions should bring their membership card, along with their home institution library card, to a Northumbria University Library Customer Support Desk. Northumbria University offers SAS members the facility to borrow up to 4 items at any one time. Staffed services close 10 minutes before the end of core opening hours. Smartcard registration ends 30 minutes before staffed services close. Students requiring reference access should also ensure that they bring their home institution library card when they visit. Please note that access to Northumbria University Library electronic resources is not included in this scheme.
Computing Facilites
Those students who have borrowing rights under the SAS may access a limited range of computing facilities. Please contact Academic Services on 0191 227 4125 or email ask4help@northumbria.ac.uk for further details.
