We speak to student Josie Reid, who held one of the 25 placement places available, about her experiences within the prison.
Josie felt the benefits from the placement before it even begun, saying the application process will have a positive impact on her future; she explains “the selection process gave me the experience of applying for jobs when I leave University which will be really beneficial to me.”
Josie continues to explain about the different activities she was involved in throughout her placement, “I worked in the prison once a week helping in many different departments, from the psychology to education and I had the chance to work closely with the prisoners.”
“I learnt so much from my placement and the skills I have learned have made me feel more equipped to go out and find a job now I have left University. It was an amazing opportunity and I would encourage everyone to get involved. The experience I gained is one of the highlights of my university life.”
