The role of the Communications & Development directorate is to maintain and enhance the reputation of the University. It does this through a broad range of channels and adopts different approaches for clearly defined audiences.

The Communications area of the department has responsibility for Public Relations, Media Relations, Community Relations, Public Affairs and Lobbying, Corporate Events, Internal Communications and the department also delivers flagship University publications including prospectuses and corporate marketing materials.

The Development arm covers the relationship with Northumbria's 60,000 alumni across the world. Alumni & Development enables our graduates to stay in touch with one another and the University via regular mailings and alumni events, as well as providing an exclusive professional support network. Through the management of an Alumni Fund and regular fundraising campaigns, our alumni are able to offer philanthropic support to assist current students.

The University Gallery welcomes members of the public to its varied exhibition and lecture programmes which run throughout the year and includes exhibitions by international and regional artists, sculptors and photographers. The University Gallery recently joined forces with Kings Place Gallery in central London. Our sister organisation now provides a touring link for exhibitions and events.
