National Minimum Wage
All employers must pay their employees the UK minimum wage.
Current rates are:
- £3.64 per hour - for workers aged 17 years
- £4.92 per hour - for workers aged between 18 - 20 years
- £5.93 per hour - for workers aged 21 years and above
The government has announced the following increases to the national minimum wage from 1st October 2011:
- 16-17 year olds: by 4p to £3.68ph
- 18-20 year olds: by 6p to £4.98ph
- 21 and above: by 15p an hour to £6.08
