Information for students employed as casual staff by the University
In accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, before you do any work for Northumbria University you must prove your right to work in the UK. You can do this by showing your documentation to either the person who has recruited you, or to staff in the Careers Centre in Northumberland Building. Accepted documentation is your current passport and visa where appropriate OR your full birth certificate (which includes the names of your parents) combined with an official document giving your National Insurance number. Terms & Conditions
Your appointment at the University will start and end in accordance with the needs of the service/department by which you are employed. The number of hours per week during term-time must not exceed 16 hours and the rate of pay will be at the grade agreed by the employing department. You will be paid an additional 7% in lieu of your entitlement to annual leave under the Working Time Regulations, which is pro rata to a full year's entitlement. You will be paid on submission of your Invoice to Payroll form, which you can collect from your employer or the Careers Centre, ground floor, Northumberland Building.
