The Counselling and Mental Health Support Team (“CMHST”) offers a multi-disciplinary service delivered by counselling and mental health staff with relevant professional qualifications working within the ethics and Codes of Practice of their respective disciplines. We offer one to one sessions, groups and courses and information and self help materials to support students who register with the service.
The service is available to any student enrolled at Northumbria University, both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The CMHST exists to support student learning and development and thus maximise student’s potential to benefit from their university experience.
In order to maintain a professional and high quality service to students and to adhere to professional regulations all team members are provided with regular and ongoing professional development and supervision.
The Counselling and Mental Health Support Team are contactable via Dan Huston, team administrator on 0191 227 4576 and via sv.counselling@northumbria.ac.uk and sv.mentalhealth@northumbria.ac.uk.
