Counselling and Mental Health

About the Counselling and Mental Health Support Team

Update: we're running some exciting new workshops at the moment covering exam stress and relaxation.  To find out more, and to book a place, please click the 'workshops' link on the left of this page.

We are a multi-disciplinary team offering a range of support for students with personal, emotional and mental health issues.  Our team offers a free and confidential service, and we are available for all students currently enrolled at Northumbria University.

To arrange your first appointment with us, please complete our online registration form – it just takes a few minutes.

We aim to contact you within two working days of receiving your form. Please note that, while we aim see students as quickly as possible, we are not usually able to offer appointments immediately.  If you are not able to wait for an appointment, and you need to speak to someone urgently, please click here to find the contact details of local emergency services.

We offer a range of support, which includes:

  • counselling appointments
  • mental health appointments
  • guided self-help sessions
  • group-work sessions, workshops  and support with the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and other disability support needs

You can find more information about the types of support we offer by clicking on the ‘Types of support available’ link on the left-hand side if this page.
