I’m afraid I’m going to harm myself

If you are concerned you might harm yourself now or in the near future ;

Do try talk to someone about how you are feeling; a trusted friend, family member, a counsellor, your doctor/GP, the Samaritans (24hours), or Saneline (6pm-11pm).

You may find the leaflets on 'How to cope with suicidal feelings' or 'Understanding self harm' from the organisation Mind helpful. Students against depression and Papyrus also have useful information.

If you feel that your life is in imminent danger then go to Accident and Emergency at the nearest hospital. It might help to ask a friend to come with you, take a taxi or dial 999. If you live in a University Hall of Residence you can contact your House Manager or call Security (emergency extn. 3200) to help you arrange transport. At the hospital you may have to wait, but you will be able to see a Mental Health Professional who can help.
