Student Items For Sale and Rent - Terms & Conditions

The 'Student Items For Sale' pages host personal advertisements of second-hand items for students at Northumbria University.

We review listing details provided but we are not involved in transactions between buyers and sellers. It is up to the buyer and seller to individually take responsibility for both the sale and purchase of the items. As a result, we have no control over the quality or safety of the items listed or for the truth or accuracy of the listings.

We will not list items that we deem to be unethical, offensive or that may infringe copyright.

The pages are viewable to anyone on the Internet and as such it is not uncommon for students to receive enquiries about their item for sale from the public. However, if you receive an email that seems odd in any way (e.g. unusual email address, poor spelling, bad English and grammar, irrelevant questions about your item) please use common sense and only respond to it if you are certain that it is genuine.
Also beware of any response asking you to post the item abroad, offering to send a cheque for greater than the value of your item, or overpaying by cheque and asking you to return the difference.
See the following websites for explanations of these scams:

If in doubt, delete the email and do not respond to it.

If you are advertising property or looking for a flat-mate, for your own safety and security, we would strongly advise that you do not publish the full address of your property.

Where personal or mobile telephone numbers have been published, the seller assumes responsibility for having their personal details published on the internet.

Please be aware that these terms and conditions may be liable to change without notice.
