Postgraduate Students

Financial support for postgrad programmes

Postgraduate students do not normally receive the same statutory financial support as undergraduate students. Some will be funded by their employer and others will support themselves, however, there are some exceptions. These include Trainee Teachers studying on the PGCE programme and Social Work students who may receive a bursary to support them. Also, students on some NHS pre-registration programmes (Nursing, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy) that are funded by the NHS may also receive a bursary.

Financial preparation

Fees for postgraduate programmes are set annually and vary for different programmes. There is very limited help available (except for PGCE, Social Work & NHS programmes) and it is advised that you should be fully financially prepared when you start your programme as it is not possible for the University to provide financial assistance for students who arrive with inadequate financial support.
