UNISON @ Northumbria
With more than 1.3 million members, UNISON is Europe's biggest public sector union. UNISON is also the one of the largest Trade Unions at Northumbria University.
Our 650 members are drawn from across the University and primarily work in support staff and management roles. UNISON @ Northumbria brings you together with other University employees who face the same issues as you. The branch helps you to get support from the union, work with your colleagues and make your views felt.
UNISON support and advice is available for all members. Trained branch officers and stewards will be happy to talk, listen and advise (lists of Branch Officers and Shop Stewards can be found on this website). Appropriate expert legal advice can be obtained from UNISON's regional office and also from Thompsons, the union's solicitors. Please note, legal advice is only available if you have been a member of UNISON for at least 4 weeks.
Nationally, UNISON negotiates pay and conditions on your behalf. We help protect your job, and try to get a fairer deal for all University employees. Find out more at www.unison.org.uk
If you are concerned about a situation in your work place, please contact the Union Office on ext 4105 for a confidential and sympathetic meeting. Remember, we can't do anything for you unless you ask us to. Also, we can't do anything unless you are a member of UNISON so join today!
We hope you find this website useful whether you are a member of UNISON or are considering joining the union.
