Gallery Archive - PRINTMAKING 4 OBSERVATIONS: James Hugonin, Chris Mansell, Ian Tyson and Liz Pannett 05 January 1982 - 29 January 1982

Details:

Aims and Contents: to promote the concept of the dialogue that exists between printmaking and drawing which specifically indicates their mutual influence and dependence on each other with respect to the artists represented in the exhibition. The exhibition would include both prints and drawings essentially of a non-figurative nature. The exhibition would compromise a selection of work from the above four artists ranging from gestural abstraction to structural and geometric abstraction. Due to the various approaches of the artists, the exhibition would demonstrate the different areas of printmaking used primarily as a means of exploiting the intrinsic qualities of the materials employed: rather than solely as a means of reproduction. The exhibition would demonstrate the importance of printmaking as a fundamentally independent concern for many artists. This recognition is crucial to the further development of printmaking generally.
