School Visits and Taster Days

There are various ways that we can introduce you to the study of law at Northumbria. One of the most popular at the moment is taster days.

There are various ways that we can introduce you to the study of law at Northumbria.  One of the most popular at the moment is taster days.

Taster days

Taster days provide “hands-on” experience of what studying law is like.  A presentation, lecture, workshop, a tour of the Law School and the campus and lunch are included as a minimum.  The lecture will tackle a topical subject, for example, in criminal law. The workshop is usually practical, introducing such skills as advocacy or offering the chance to play a part in a mock trial using our recreated courtroom.  There are opportunities to meet students and to chat to staff informally.

School visits

Alternatively, we can arrange to visit your school. A visit usually involves a presentation about studying law and can be delivered to any size of group.  Staff visiting schools are also happy to offer advice and answer questions about entering higher education.  At certain times of the year more specialist advice can be given, such as help completing UCAS forms.

Both taster days and school visits can be tailored to the school’s requirements.

Individual visits

We are more than happy to accommodate individual or family visits. These usually include meetings with tutors and students as well as tours of the faculty facilities and the University campus.

Other opportunities

Other opportunities to visit the University occur throughout the year: Open Days and Applicant Visitor Days are advertised on our website
