HLTA North manage HLTA assessment in the North of England and is a member of HNAP, (Higher Level Teaching Assistant National Assessment Partnership). Together, HNAP members ensure a national focus, consistency and the rigour of HLTA assessment.

Northumbria University also offers preparation courses leading to assessment against the national HLTA standards. Northumbria University has been a provider of HLTA preparation since 2004 and is highly skilled at HLTA preparation and assessment.

Northumbria University Preparation for HLTA Assessment courses are available not only at Coach Lane Campus in Newcastle, but also throughout the North East, Cumbria and in South Yorkshire and parts of the North West, in local centres, according to need, facilitated by very experienced preparers.

Two preparation pathways are now available: Short (for more experienced Teaching Assistants) or Long (for Teaching Assistants with less experience).

The Short preparation and assessment pathway is set out below:

1. Three day preparation for assessment costs £350, which includes the cost of all refreshments, meals and materials. Candidates need to complete all three preparation days, in order to proceed to assessment.

2. The national cost for HLTA assessment is £450, in addition to the above.

3. The total cost is £800.
