Research shows there are 4 steps to improving your own health and wellbeing. Find out how Northumbria alumni are investing in their own health and wellbeing and how you can get involved, learn new skills and understand the support available to make positive change. 

1. Connect with other people. Good relationships are important to mental wellbeing and for those who need that extra support,  Alumnus Tom Home has developed mental health app, blOKes designed to encourage men to speak about their thoughts and feelings, and tell a #MaleTale

2. Be ActiveBeing active helps raise self-esteem and increase positivity. Join Alumnus Ed Jackson, Founder of Millimetres2Mountains on the Walk the Coast Virtual Challenge in support of mental health and wellbeing. Track your exercise using hashtag #M2MTogetherOutdoors for a chance to win prizes, donate and bring awareness to a worthy cause. 

3. Learn new Skills Learning something new helps to boast confidence and build a sense of purpose. Alumna Hannah Greaves talks about life after Graduation, gaining new skills to her career as Wellbeing Coordinator and offers her own mental wellbeing tips.

 4, Give to othersActs of kindness and giving to others helps to create a sense of reward and connection. We encourage our alumni community to give back through volunteering including becoming a mentor, completing an alumni profile, hosting a reunion, developing an alumni chapter and we showcase these in our alumni monthly newsletter and communications.
