Help to support all students to succeed

Through internships and placements, scholarships, funding PhDs, student academic prizes and a fund to support those in hardship, we strive towards supporting all students at Northumbria University and to make a real difference to the learning experience.

Northumbria University is committed to offering opportunity to young people from a wide variety of backgrounds, particularly those “most able but least likely” to come to university. We provide financial support to students who have previously been in care or who are carers for their own family members. As a result of these activities, 33% of our students are from low-participation backgrounds.

We want to provide more support for students in need, and to make it possible for young people from all walks of life to study at Northumbria. Our vision is that by 2023, 10% of our undergraduate student population (2,000 students in total) will benefit from additional financial support via scholarships, prizes or hardship funding tailored to their circumstances.

These opportunities establish a strong platform for the future success of our students. With your support, we can ensure that all students have the opportunity to fulfil their potential and by supporting student opportunities, we are helping students to take on the challenges of tomorrow.
