Career Path: English Teacher, Ponteland High School
Location: Gateshead, UK

I knew that I wanted to become an English Teacher before beginning my MA course in 2017. I very nearly applied to go immediately into my teaching course in 2017 instead of doing my MA but was persuaded by my family to do the MA instead. I also believed that having an MA in Literature would help with my employ-ability. This seemed to be proved correct as I was one of the first English students to get a full time job and the first to be offered a permanent contract. In order to become a teacher, I also spent the best part of an academic year within Whitley Bay High School volunteering as an SEND support assistant.
