What are you doing now?

I'm currently applying for an MSc Human Resource Management postgraduate degree.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

The University's rankings, facilities and programs.

What was it like studying at Northumbria?

There was a mix of lectures on various topics, case studies seminars and many team projects. I really enjoyed all the activities, especially the last 10,000 words group project in the Reward Relationships module. Also, the tutors were really helpful and approachable.

How connected was your course with industry?

The guest lectures occur on a weekly basis with speakers from industry, specifically I cannot forget Paul Polman's lecture about sustainability - it was excellent and very helpful to me.

What was the best thing about your course?

You can connect the course with industry.

How did studying at Northumbria help you achieve your career goals/give your career an edge?

A business and management studies degree at Northumbria University prepares you for a career in business, which may stretch across any sector or industry. Your career options are therefore varied. Moreover, you can gain work experience at the University through extra-curricular activities such as club membership or taking a role on a society that develops your team-building, business or finance skills.

Which skills/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

An understanding of organisational behaviour and structure, analytical and critical thinking skills, a creative approach to problem solving, decision-making, persuasive written and oral communication, numeracy and the ability to research, interpret and use business and financial data. I have also learnt self-reliance, initiative and the ability to manage time, projects and resources as well as an appreciation of the causes and effects of economic and other external changes.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

I really enjoyed the excellent facilities that the University provided, the buildings' modern design and the cutting edge technology.

What advice would you give somebody who is thinking of studying at Northumbria?

Northumbria is an excellent university with excellent programs.

How would you describe your time at Northumbria in three words?

The best university.
