What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

I knew I wanted to stay close to home, however I was also lucky enough to really like the University's campus and was also impressed at the variety of modules covered in my course.Interactive Media Design _alumni _Lauren Muxworthy (1)

What was it like studying at Northumbria?

I really enjoyed my time at Northumbria, the course itself allowed me to explore a variety of fundamental design skills as well as preparing me for my future career with modules in professional practice and talks with industry experts.

What impressed you most about our academic staff?

The staff were always really knowledgeable about their topics, they allowed us to be creative and to work individually, but were always on hand to offer advice and assistance when needed.

How connected was your course with industry?

We had regular talks and presentations with industry professionals, which offered insight into a variety of career paths.

How did studying at Northumbria help give your career an edge?

Though my current role is very different to my degree, the working style I adopted at Northumbria reflects how we work as a team here at Ascent Group.

What was the best thing about your course?

Other than making so many good friends, I think the best thing about my course was the variety within the modules and the learning style we were encouraged to adopt, which has enabled me to work well individually and as a team.

Which skills/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

With my course being 100% coursework I had to learn to efficiently manage my time and balance multiple projects at once, this is something that has definitely come in handy within my current role, as I oversee all client campaigns and am required to delegate tasks to other members of the team. The communication skills I developed from giving many presentations throughout my three years at Northumbria have helped with my confidence and ability to interconnect well with both clients and other members of the team.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

The friends I made during my time studying!

What advice would you give somebody who is thinking of studying at Northumbria?

Go for it! Northumbria has the benefits of both a great social scene and good courses and lecturers.

How would you describe your time at Northumbria in three words?

Challenging, fun and rewarding.
