AMA (5)What were your Law School highlights?

The Law School organised for students to perform a full mock trial to bench of magistrates and the public at the Newcastle Magistrate Court. It was a thrilling experience and a fantastic opportunity. I enjoyed everyday whilst at Northumbria; and I would look forward to going in each day. It was fantastic to be taught by practicing barristers, they were always helpful and approachable. Having managed to get pupillage in Newcastle, I now see many of them in Court!

Why did you choose Northumbria University?

Quite simply the facilities at Northumbria are second to none. From the fully equipped mock court room in the centre of the law building, to the vastly resourced library, students are provided with interactive training and the most up to date facilities that mirror the working life of a barrister. I was impressed not only by the state of the art facilities accessible to every student but also the standard of teaching. I will always remember the passion with which my lecturers taught, always enthusiastic, informative and engaging. Quite simply, an excellent standard of teaching.

The Bar Course at Northumbria has an excellent reputation throughout the North East... and the Country! A unique element of Northumbria Law School is the student law office. A fantastic opportunity to work on real cases with real clients, not only is this an invaluable and impressive asset to any CV, but it gives students their first opportunity apply their legal training to live client work and working with the public.

What was your impression of the Law School community, your fellow law students and the facilities at the School?

All the students got to know each other on the Bar Course, we became like a large family! Every member of the course was friendly and approachable... I truly have made friends for life! We all felt our teachers were always friendly and approachable, they were always willing to going out of their way to help us through the course and into our careers.

Which Law School activity or experience was the most meaningful to you?

My whole year at Northumbria was a fantastic experience. I learnt so much and really enjoyed myself along the way. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. The focus at Northumbria was on the student and helping them in every way possible. Not only through an in depth and invaluable education but also in assisting with life after University, whether this be help with CV’s , interview practice or advice. The extra circular activities on offer were fantastic; from mooting competitions and mock trials in the Old Bailey to lectures and visits from experienced barristers and Judges from around the country.
