What did you like most about your course?
What I found most interesting about the course was the cutting-edge research and the in depth study of the latest developments in biotechnology that was provided to students.
What did you do after you graduated?
After graduation I started working at Roche Diagnostics and since then have moved to Boston Scientific in Malaysia.
Briefly tell us about your typical working day.
I provide sales and technical support to physicians with the implantation of medical devices. My role is varied by means of visiting heart centres to assist with checks of patient devices and I will be present in the laboratory to support the implantation of devices in patients. On non laboratory days I will be marketing and selling my products to other physicians.
How did your degree at Northumbria benefit your career?
The biotechnology degree has benefited by career by having knowledge in the medical field. When life threatening cases of infection do occur, I am able to understand how medication works in the human body and when patients show symptoms that do require devices in their treatment.
