The Alumni Fund

Giving to the Alumni Fund is the easiest way for graduates, staff and other supporters of Northumbria to make an immediate contribution to the University. Increasing numbers of alumni are choosing to support the University in this way and, since its founding in 2006, more than £180,000 has been raised. Every penny goes towards supporting students in some way.

Giving to the Alumni Fund is the easiest way for alumni and friends of Northumbria University to make an immediate contribution.

The Northumbria University Alumni Fund supports projects and initiatives that directly benefit current students by adding value to the Northumbria student experience. The Alumni Fund relies entirely on the generous philanthropic support of alumni, current staff, ex-staff and friends of the University.

Increasing numbers of alumni are choosing to support the University in this way and, since its founding in 2006, more than £180,000 has been raised. Every penny goes towards supporting students in some way.

The Alumni Fund is administered by Northumbria Alumni Association with a grant-award committee evaluating all applications for grants to ensure that Alumni Fund donations are channelled to the most deserving projects for current students.

Your generosity is allowing the University to support some amazing student-centred projects right across campus - scholarships, bursaries, library, sports, volunteering and other areas too. Without the support of alumni and friends of the University these projects simply would not be possible.

Scholarships, Bursaries & Hardship Grants

To help those who need it most such as those from low income households, mature students with families and others who lack the finances to be able to make the most of the opportunities at University.

Gifts to this Fund area allow us to continue to give practical support to truly deserving students, unlocking their talents and helping them to reach their potential.

Library and Learning

The Library is at the heart of the student learning experience at Northumbria and we need to constantly evolve our learning, library materials and resources to meet the changing needs of today’s students.

Gifts to this Fund area will ensure that Northumbria University students continue to get the very best resources, materials and facilities needed for a truly excellent education.

Sport Participation and Outreach Projects

To support and encourage sport participation at every level - from those involved with club-based sports, students seeking to improve their sport coaching and leadership skills, to athletic scholarships for those competing at international level. The Fund also supports the international student volunteering programme in Zambia.

Gifts to this Fund area will mean more students will be able to take part in sport for health, leisure and competition for the benefit of themselves and the community.

Volunteering and Extra-Curricular Opportunities

The activities students do outside of the classroom can make a big difference to the personal development, academic success and employability of students.

Gifts to this Fund area provide new opportunities for students to gain vital new skills whilst helping those around them, both on campus and the wider community.
