3PM Research Interest Group - Chiara Fantauzzi Seminar

Northumbria University

Public Policy and Public Management (3PM) Research interest Group are delighted to welcome:

Chiara Fantauzzi, University of Rome Tor Vergata
to the
Faculty of Business & Law

 to debate:

“Strategic leadership in higher education institutions: what's new in academic research?”

Speaker Profile:

Chiara Fantauzzi, is a Visiting Scholar and PhD candidate in Public Management and Governance at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Her main research interest is the new role of universities in society, by looking at their strategic planning.

In this seminar, she will consider potential connections between strategic planning and strategic leadership in higher education. Indeed, in a context where universities are called to develop their “entrepreneurial” mindset and to expand interactions with external stakeholders, they have started to operate in a strategic manner, defining their objectives and guidelines. Consequently, these new strategic approaches require the development of new leaders within higher education institutions, forced to rethink about their traditional academic leadership. Several leadership models have been developed, showing strengths and weaknesses in higher education system.

In this sense, now the aim is to understand if a new “universal” leadership model could be defined for universities, ensuring the achievement of their all missions: teaching, research and engagement in society.
