What expertise will you bring to AI?
With a BSc and MSc in Health Psychology from Northumbria University, I have research experience in behavioural science, qualitative research, and public health. Over the last two years, I’ve worked as a Research Assistant across a variety of projects, including studies exploring the effectiveness of sun protection apps, the cognitive effects of Lion’s Mane Mushroom, and factors influencing engagement with district heat networks in partnership with Gateshead Council and Innovate UK. My MSc thesis focused on understanding the determinants of future cervical screening uptake among young adults in North-East England. I’m passionate about applying my research to inform women’s health interventions and promote accessible care.
Research Interests
I am particularly interested in women's health, including menstrual and menopausal health. I’m passionate about using co-design methods to ensure AI systems reflect lived experiences and support autonomy in healthcare decision-making for women. My experience in Psychology has sparked my interest in behaviour change, community engagement, and how AI can influence healthcare outcomes for women. I enjoy working with qualitative methods, particularly interviews, focus groups, and workshops. I am also interested in using co-design methods, such as sprints, workbooks, and personas.
What made you want to apply for CCAI?
I believe I have a growth mindset; I want to continuously develop my skills and learn new things. My motivation for applying for the CCAI was learning how to code, which is something I never thought I’d be able to do. This will be an essential skill for my future career goals in academia. I also excited about incorporating the design methods and skills I’ve learned into my PhD project to explore AI in women’s health.
What are your ambitions for AI? How do you plan to change the world?
As someone new to AI, I want to contribute to making it more accessible, transparent, and trustworthy—especially in health contexts where people may feel uncertain about its use. I’m especially interested in how AI can be shaped to meet the specific needs of women, supporting areas like menstrual and menopausal health that are often underrepresented. I would like to use community-led research and co-design methods to re-design or create new systems that reflect women’s lived experiences. Ultimately, I want to work on AI tools to improve advocacy, autonomy, and support for women, and make a real difference to the healthcare system.
