What expertise will you bring to AI? 

Before embarking on my academic journey, I gained hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector, maintaining offshore wind turbines. Eager to deepen my understanding of control and monitoring solutions, I completed an MSc in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at Northumbria University. In my role as a Research Software Engineer, I developed data capture solutions for Digital Twinning and Living Lab research. I am passionate about using AI and data solutions to advance environmental sustainability and improve the efficiency of energy systems.

Research Interests 

Disaster prediction and prevention have been subjects of interest, and throughout my studies I have seen how empowering AI can be in assisting people with decision making through predictive and analytical solutions. However, due to the technical entry for AI I recognised that there are many people who have difficulty both understanding and trusting these systems. By exploring ways to increase the transparency and understanding of these models, we can foster greater acceptance, inclusivity and empower citizens to confront challenges effectively.

What made you want to apply for CCAI?

The CCAI fosters an environment that encourages collaboration throughout all faculties of the university, allowing for fresh and creative dialog on how AI can be used to improve the lives for a greater field of areas than normally accessible. Through knowledge exchange and discussions, it fosters an environment that challenges your personal conceptions and gives a space that promotes growth.

What are your ambitions for AI? How do you plan to change the world?  

I aim to utilise AI in creating empowering tools that are accessible for people of all backgrounds that foster transparency and trust as their core design values. Through this, I aim for greater acceptance with AI systems that can empower citizens to confront challenges effectively. By making these systems more accessible, it may bring more people to the discussion regarding how we protect our flood vulnerable areas which may show new features and perspectives not currently discovered.
