Research Themes and Scholarly Interests

Dr Emmanuel Ogiemwonyi Arakpogun is an academic in Digital Economy and International Business Management with research interests that link the liberalisation of the telecoms market and the application of universal access policies as a combined strategy for closing the digital divides as well as other structural inequalities in emerging economies particularly those in Africa. His publications and ‘pipeline’ research spans various aspects of ICT4D using case studies approach. He is also a reviewer for journals listed on the Chartered Association of Business Schools, including Information Technology & People.

Before the beginning of his academic career as a teaching assistant in 2016, Emmanuel worked over 5 years in the banking and fin-tech sectors - for Equitorial Trust Bank Limited and Sterling Bank Plc in Nigeria up to a Senior Executive level, and Worldpay Group Plc in the UK as a Customer Dispute Officer. He also worked briefly with Robert Bosch GmbH, the German multinational engineering and technology company, as a Sales Analyst intern covering European Sales and Project Management.

Besides research, Emmanuel has a strong passion for learning and teaching with a constructivism teaching philosophy that enables the co-creation of agile knowledge with students. He is also interested in mentoring Ph.D. candidate with research interests in ICT4D, including Digital Inclusion, Fintech & Mobile Money, and the internationalisation of Tech & Telecom MNEs.
