Gobinda -Chowdhury

Prof Gobinda Chowdhury joined Northumbria University in August 2013 after spending a few years as a Professor and Director of the Centre for Information & Knowledge Management at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia.

After acquiring an Hons., a masters and two PhD degrees in Information Science, I worked as an academic and a researcher at a number of universities around the world for nearly 25 years, the last ten years of which has been  as the head of an academic department or unit. My  previous research focused on interactive information retrieval and digital libraries. My  current research focuses on sustainable information systems and services, and research data management. Over the years, I have successfully managed several research projects, and have written or edited 15 books and over 125 research papers. I am currently the Chair of the European iSchools, and a member of the Executive Committee of the global iSchools organization.
