Research Themes and Scholarly Interests
My primary teaching interests include knowledge organization, information retrieval and digital libraries. I have taught in these and other related areas for over two decades, and I have written several books that are the key readings in information science courses in many universities around the world. Over the years I have also been actively involved in discussing the new trends and devising new curricula in information science in my own and various other universities across the globe. I have worked as an external examiner and reviewer of information science courses in many British and overseas universities.
Sponsors and Collaborators
I have successfully managed a number of research projects funded by different funding bodies including the European Union, Higher Education Academy, Scottish Library and Information Council, various UN bodies and universities. I have also successfully supervised a number of PhD students, and I am always in search of bright PhD students in different areas of information science. For many years I have served in the steering committee of CiSAP (Consortium of iSchools for Asia and the Pacific) and ICADL (International Conference of Asia-Pacific Digital Libraries).
I have published 15 books and over 150 research papers in different international journals, conferences, workshops, etc. I am the series editor of the recently launched iResearch Series of Facet Publishing, London.
