Dr Mara Ferreri

Department: Geography and Environmental Sciences

I am a Vice Chancellor’s Research Fellow in Human Geography, working on temporary and platform urbanism, housing inequalities and precarity, and housing commons. After a PhD in Geography at Queen Mary University of London, I have held research and teaching positions at the LSE and Durham. Prior to joining Northumbria I held a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Catalunya, where I worked on the project Commoning Housing http://commoninghousing.net/ My research has been published in international journals such as City, Transactions of the IBG, cultural geographies, Urban Studies and Geoforum. I am a founding editor of the open-access international Radical Housing Journal.

Research Themes and Scholarly Interests

I am an urban and cultural geographer working on issues of precarity, commons, housing and urban temporariness. Previous research was published in international journals such as Transactions of the IBG, cultural geographies and Geoforum. I am a founding editor of the open-access international Radical Housing Journal. Prior to joining Northumbria I held a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, and worked on the project Commoning Housing http://commoninghousing.net/
