Department: Northumbria School of Design

Sarah joined Northumbria University in 2004 as a Senior lecturer on Fashion Marketing and later in 2007 became programme leader of the newly developed Fashion Communication programme in which she researched, wrote and developed.

The Fashion Communication Programme aims to fill a rising need in the fashion industry for professionals who could understand and curate design across fashion product in both 2 dimensional space (Magazines, Web, Film, Literature etc.) and 3Dimensional space (Installations, Visual Merchandising, Fashion Catwalk, Museum and Public Space Interpretations)

Over Sarah’s design career she has designed for over 12 different UK and Italian labels including Parigi, Alibi Diffusion, Liola, Giovanozzi, and Entente.

During her industrial practice Sarah exhibited her collections for "Entente" a specialist womenswear collection which retailed in Henry Bendels, Saks, Brown Thomas, Harrods, Selfridges, and Elegance.  Styles from the collections were also included for actors and celebrities to wear on various BBC TV programs including the Nine O’clock News, Gloria Hunniford Show, Swap Shop, After Henry and other TV programs. Other ’looks’ have been selected for inclusion in editorial in Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Good House Keeping and Elegance (Swiss Publication).
