Research Themes and Scholarly Interests

I have a particular passion for soil science, and an interest in the effects of anthropogenic activities on natural systems, such as biogeochemical cycling within soils.

My research background centres on biogeochemistry within organic soils, in particular the cycling of Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) in peat and peaty podzol soils, and the effect that acidification and recovery has on the consumption, production and mobility of DOC.

I also have scholarly interests in the following areas:

-Environmental pollution

-Conservation and management

-Soil microbiology

-Climate change and associated impacts

-Biogeochemical cycling within soils
