Rebecca Radley

Rebecca joined the academic department at Northumbria in 2009 following a career working in a range of Sport Development roles. Rebecca's career prior to becoming a lecturer included working in a Local Authority sport development officer role, supporting primary schools to develop sustainable, community-led activites and facilities. Following this, Rebecca moved to work with the University Sport department where she began working as the Participation Coordinator, driving up the numbers of students involved in sporting activity and then moved into a Competitions Manager role which saw her lead the BUCS, clubs and National League programmes for Northumbria.

As an academic member of staff Rebecca's main areas of interest are in employability and supporting students to develop their understanding of the world of work. Rebecca leads modules which provide students with the opportunity to gain experience and develop skills, knowledge and understanding which prepare them for life after University. 

Outside of her work at Northumbria, Rebecca is a Coach Developer for England and GB Hockey which involves her delivering coach education programmes, supporting and mentoring coaches and working with clubs to improve their coaching offer. She is also actively involved in hockey locally and currently coaches at Newcastle Hockey Club. In addition Rebecca is a Director of a North-East based charity whose work focuses on providing opportunities for local groups and individuals to improve their wellbeing through sport and physical activity.
