It’s that time of the year again where Newcastle’s Town Moor is transformed in to Europe’s largest travelling fairground!

The Hoppings a major annual event in the North East where people from all ages flock to the Town Moor to ride rollercoasters, drive dodgems, hook-a-duck and eat candyfloss and donuts. The Hoppings was founded in 1882 when The North of England Temperance Festival Association held a two-day event on the Town Moor which attracted over 200,000 people.

Now over 120 years old, The Hoppings continues to attract the masses in their thousands every year in the North East.

What will I see at The Hoppings?

If you’re heading to The Hoppings, which is here this year between the 17th and 25th June, you’ll find over 300 rides and attractions including classics like the Helter Skelter, Giant Wheel, Carousel, Waltzer and new favourites including Air, Mach 5 and Xtreme Top Scan.

If rides aren’t your thing, there’s still plenty to do including various fairground games and indulging in sweet treats and snacks.

Forecast for a dry (and hopefully sunny) weekend make sure to get yourself down to The Hoppings for this years’ worth of fairground fun!
