When making plans for your next day trip out of the 'toon', why not consider visiting York?
York is a lovely city just an hour south of Newcastle. It's easy to reach by train, and travel costs between £15 and £20 for a return ticket. The city has a lot to offer historically, and it perfect for a day trip. Here are four things I had a closer look at whilst visiting!
1. Free guided walking tour
The best opportunity to get to know York and its history. The tour guide also shows you around the most interesting places, and it's completely free! :)
2. York Minster
Really impressive!
3. The Shambles
A tiny old street with overhanging buildings and lovely little shops!
4. The Fudge Makers
Fudge is a typical English sweet. York has many shops where it's still made from scratch whilst you can watch and most importantly: often also try! Yummy!
There are many more things to discover in York such as the National Railway Museum, York's Chocolate Story and the York Art Gallery. So, get on the train and prepare yourself for an awesome day in York!
