Much like the weight of students in the UK today, I left my undergraduate degree broke. In fact, if you were to tell me three months down the line that I would be able to fund a Masters at Northumbria University, I would've probably laughed in your face, a single tear rolling down mine.
Yet, here I am, a semester into a degree in Multidisciplinary Innovation (great course, check it out here) and, what's more, financially stable. This is primarily due to being awarded the Vice-Chancellor Scholarship prior to embarking on my studies.
The scholarship is worth a whopping £2,750, which worked out as over half of my overall tuition fee. To apply, you have to be interested in studying one of a handful of postgraduate taught courses starting in September 2017, ranging across a variety of disciplines (check out the exhaustive list here).
The application process itself is short and sweet, asking you to answer an initial question related to the discipline in which you wish to study. From there, you are asked to outline your key achievements to date, along with your future ambitions following Masters study. The whole process took me an afternoon, just to put things into perspective.

Three weeks after applying I was contacted by Northumbria, informing me that I had been awarded the scholarship - happy days! The scholarship has enabled me to focus on my studies, and worry less about my finances, which to this day is still a massive weight off my shoulders.
It's also worth mentioning that prospective postgraduate students may be eligible to apply for a government loan of up to £10,000, should you need the extra support during your studies. I myself have taken out the loan, again an easy process with guidance available from both Northumbria and HMRC. Here are some more details on the government loan.
Take it from me, if you're looking to study at Postgraduate level with Northumbria come September 2017, rest assured there's plenty of financial support available. The Vice-Chancellor Scholarship opened a door for me I once thought shut, and I'm sure it could for you, too. The deadline for applications is 19th March 2017, so get cracking!
