Welcome to the Greenhouse - the most sustainable and newest cafe at Northumbria City Campus. Here you can find ethical, fresh and sustainable food from local suppliers.
The cafe is open on weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm and located on the Ground Floor of the Northumbria Students’ Union (City Campus) on the right from the main entrance. There is a spacious interior with a lot of light coming through the floor to ceiling windows and it is decorated with an artificial living room wall.
The furniture looks modern and cosy and what’s more important, it’s very comfy. For Instagram lovers, this place would be a great chance to fill the feed with the beauty of the scenic inside or pics of healthy meals. The Greenhouse is a great place to hang out with friends or simply have a lunch break between your classes. It is a good working environment, too. Just bring your laptop, have a freshly brewed hot drink and listen to chill Greenhouse tunes. They have their own Spotify account and staff has access to the songs, which means no repeated music.

The Greenhouse is proud to serve ethical and healthy food such as homemade soups, salads, fresh fruit smoothies etc. If you’re in a dessert mood then you can get cheesecakes, milkshakes made with real ice cream or small bites at the café as well. They have got plenty of grab-n-go meals such as sandwiches, fresh pastries, crisps or locally sourced refreshment drinks. The Greenhouse has also partnered with a charity called Change Please. Every coffee you buy from Greenhouse will contribute to training homeless people in becoming baristas. It changes many lives while you are enjoying your hot cup of freshly brewed coffee.
