City Campus

Where is the City Campus?
The City campus is based in Newcastle city centre.

How close is it to the city centre?
Very close, it is a couple of minutes from the Monument and Eldon Square shopping centre.

What courses are taught at City Campus?
Most courses are taught at City Campus or City Campus East.  City Campus east is a short walk away from the main City Campus which is where subjects such as Design, Law and Business are taught.

What courses are not taught at City Campus?
Health, Community, Education and Childrens Workforce courses are taught at Coach Lane Campus, three miles from the city centre

Are there sports facilities on campus?
In the summer of 2010 Sport Central, a £30 million state-of-the-art sports facility was opened. Open to students, staff and the general public, Sport Central offers first class sports provision across a number of facilities including a 12m climbing wall, 25m swimming pool, golf simulator and fitness centre to name but a few. Coach Lane Campus also has its own sports centre and outdoor sports pitches.

What are the campus facilities like?
There are many facilities on campus, such as Sports Central and the University Library which provides a comprehensive range of services to support students throughout their studies. There are also a number of small shops/places to eat including the award winning Student’s Union which houses a number of music venues and bars. 

How safe is the campus?
We have a number of initiatives on campus to ensure that our students are as safe as possible at Northumbria, including: A security control room manned 24 hours a day, 24 hour CCTV campus coverage, a community police officer on site who can offer advice to students regarding safety and security issues, personal attack alarms handed out to new students in Welcome Week, emergency taxi scheme, well-lit campus and a Saturday night bus to ensure students get home from the Students’ Union safely.
