Contact UsThe MOBIE Northumbria Homes for the Future Innovation Centre is a three-year programme that aims to help businesses involved in the design and delivery of homes access research and innovation that drive transformation.

Northumbria University will co-found 15 PhD studentships (five studentships starting each year) with industry partners, working together to define a research project that will address the needs of the business. A PhD student will then be appointed to work exclusively on that project, while pursuing their PhD studies.

Northumbria has been chosen to partner on the highest skilled critical level of the pathway due to its exceptional track record in attracting and nurturing world class PhD students in this area, and its connections with industry. These connections also underpin an excellent reputation for live student-industry projects, including the recent Land of Oak and Iron Centre in Gateshead and the proposed Angel of the North Visitors Centre.

Applications are currently open for the first wave of businesses to submit their challenges for a potential PhD project – find out how to apply here. Details on these project will be published later in the year. Please complete the register interest form to be the first to find out when the first wave of projects are announced.
