Arrived late

  • Enrol: you can enrol online by selecting the Enrol button in the Student Portal. You will be able to upload a photograph for your smartcard at the same time.
  • Collect your smartcard: after you have enrolled and uploaded a suitable photograph, you need to collect your smartcard. You will need your smartcard to access lots of the University’s facilities and services. To collect your smartcard, go to the Ask4Help desk; you must bring with you some official photo ID to enable you to collect your smartcard.
  • Contact your Programme Leader : tell your Programme Leader you have started your course late and ask them for information about how you can catch up on the parts of the course that you have missed.
  • Contact the Module Tutor for each of the modules that you are studying: ask them to let you know how you can catch up on the work you have missed for each module.
  • Check your funding: Speak to one of our advisors if you haven't applied for funding or if you want information about bursaries and scholarships. Visit the Ask4Help desk for more information.
  • Talk to us about disability support: if you are disabled, have dyslexia or have a mental health condition, make an appointment with Student Life and Wellbeing to find out about the support available.  To make an appointment, please go via the student portal: https://myportal.northumbria.ac.uk, visit the Ask4Help desk or telephone 0191 227 4127.
  • Register with a doctor: go to Register with a Doctor for more information on how to do this.
  • Meet other students and made friends: whenever you arrive at Northumbria, your Students’ Union is here to help you make friends. Speak to us at the Welcome Desk or visit mynsu.co.uk for more information.
